GREAT LAUNDRY DETERGENT RECIPE
 96 LOADS

My daughter, Lisa turned me on to this laundry soap recipe. It is very inexpensive and it works great. Be prepared to own about four gallons of laundry soap.

Here’s what you need……

1 Bar of Fels-Naptha Soap (I use Fels-Naptha because it is made for treating laundry stains)
1 cup washing soda (Arm and Hammer brand)
½ cup Borax (20-Mule team brand)
3 Gallons Water
5 Gallon bucket

***I am able to find all these ingredients at Winco in the laundry aisle or Albertsons*****

STEP 1:  use a cheese grater or food processor and grate your soap.  Next, heat up 4 cups of water in a large sauce pan until it’s almost boiling.  Add the grated soap and stir until dissolved, keeping below the boiling point.

STEP 2:  Put 3 gallons of hot tap water into a 5 gallon bucket.  Then mix in the hot soapy water from step one.  Stir for 1 minute.  Add 1 cup of washing soda and stir for another minute, then add ½ cup borax and stir for another minute.  Let the mixture sit over night, uncovered.

That is it, you are done.  You should now have a bucket of gelatinous slime that’s a paler shade of the soap you used.  You will need about ½ cup per load and this bucket should last for about 96 loads.

  1. THANK YOU THANK YOU
I used your recipe today... Works GREAT! I used plain white vinegar as the Fabric Softener and it makes a great combination. I think this should eliminate the allergic reaction we usually have to Soap/Softener, unless we are allergic to the AWESOME FRESH smell. :) You are Awesome. Thank YOU!
